Whom Do We Trust? The People!

Media literacy is based on the idea that human beings yearn for freedom and for agency - the freedom to think critically and independently, and to make decisions in their own interests and in the interests of their communities. We hear so much about a crisis of trust today - trust in our institutions, trust in a free press, trust in people`s ability to discern. To explore ideas about why we SHOULD trust people and their decisions, we have focused on the field of experimental economics.

We invite you to explore this question in our new issue of Connections, where CML interviewed Dr.Vernon L. Smith, the Nobel Laureate for economics (2002), and Dr. Lynne Kiesling, Associate Director of the Purdue University Research Center in Economics.
